In addition to his new duties, Ed will continue to serve as pastor of the Clyde Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Clyde, Ohio.

Ed is no stranger to LOGOS. In fact, he has been a member of The LOGOS Ministry Corporation, served on the Finance Committee, and prior to assuming his new role, served on the Development Committee.

As part of his announcement, Mr. Barlow said, “The LOGOS Ministry has been on a journey in faith and service to youth, children and adults for more than forty-seven years. As we continue our journey, we are pleased Ed has accepted the call to become our Interim Executive Director. He is a man of faith and a gifted organizational leader.

The LOGOS Ministry Receives Endorsement From the Baltimore Presbytery!
“In April of 2009 the Presbytery of Baltimore hosted The LOGOS “Hey You!” workshop led by Liz Perraud, the Northeast Regional Coordinator. The workshop was attended by 30 people representing 18 different Presbyterian churches. They identified themselves as pastors, Associate pastors, Christian educators/Directors of Children’s Ministry, Nominating Committee Chair, Clerk of Session, Elders, and Commissioned Lay Pastors. The workshop was engaging and was well received by those in attendance. It led participants to explore the biblical foundations of calling people into service, consider how to help volunteers identify their giftedness and areas of interest, and offered a practical process for finding volunteers to engage in Christian ministry, not just church work. I highly recommend it!”

- Rev. Jane B. Johnson
Associate for Leadership Development, Education, & Youth
The Presbytery of Baltimore

LOGOS Invites 2010 Ministry Members
Informational packages have recently been mailed to more than 1,300 churches and ministry leaders inviting them to consider becoming Ministry Members of The LOGOS Ministry in 2010. Announcing the initiation of the mailing, Executive Director Rev. Tom Beagan said, “We are very excited to be offering our 2010 member churches enhanced benefits while holding the cost of membership steady from 2009. We fully appreciate the financial concerns of our member churches and want to be certain that we are delivering as much value as possible for each of their ministry dollars.

In anticipation of a great response to the 2010 membership campaign, LOGOS also announced that 2009 ministry membership grew 24% above ’08 levels. The flexible, benefits-based, and multi-level membership model that LOGOS is now offering appears to be responsive to the objectives and budgets of many churches.

Fathers and Daughters
While researching articles for this month’s Heartfelt newsletter, we came across several helpful articles on the relationship between fathers and their children. While fathers play an equally important role in their sons’ lives, we take this opportunity to share an article about the father-daughter relationship.

Dr. Jane R. Rosen-Grandon rightly points out that “Fathers play an essential role in their daughter's lives. Many things are learned and many things are taught. Some of the most meaningful moments in a daughter's life are spent with her father. Usually, mothers serve as role models for their daughters. They provide examples of how to be an individual, a mother and a wife. Fathers, however, teach their daughters how to regard themselves, what kinds of relationships are healthy, what to look for in a partner, and what to expect of men in co-parenting relationships.” Read more here.

At LOGOS we encourage families to spend time together eating, playing, studying God’s Word and, of course, worshipping. Moms---and dads---play an essential role in growing committed, life-long disciples of Jesus Christ. As we approach Father’s Day this year [June 21st], let’s take time to pray for and celebrate all of the dads in our lives.

LOGOS Forms New Partnerships

In recent months, The LOGOS Ministry has established some new working relationships with regional judicatories, seminaries and denominational resource centers to bring the issues and potential solutions related to children’s ministry to local churches. At more than 20 workshop events titled, From Urgency to Action (FUTA), LOGOS has highlighted the critical need for effective children’s ministry in the culture today and introduced its Children’s Ministry Effectiveness Model as the starting point for new ministry solutions.

Thus far, LOGOS has initiated new partnering relationships in a number of regions and with multiple denominations and groups. The feedback from sponsors and participants at the FUTA events has been consistently positive and seems to be the first step in a growing interest in building new, effective children’s ministries.
